Kathmandu Metropolitan to Construct PL Singh’s Statue at Rastriya Sabha Griha



Kathmandu- The 31st Executive Meeting of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to construct a full-length statue of the first mayor, the late PL Singh, within the premises of Rastriya Sabha Griha.

The meeting, held on Sunday and chaired by Mayor Balen Shah at Kathmandu Plaza, discussed and approved the construction of the statue to honor Singh’s contributions to autonomy, self-governance, and good municipal governance. Singh is credited with upgrading the municipality to a metropolitan city.

The late PL Singh was born on 11th Chaitra 1996 BS and passed away on 1st Poush 2081 BS. He was elected mayor on 30th Jestha 2049 BS, receiving 66,874 votes in the local elections. On 29th Mangsir 2052 BS, he led the city’s transition from a municipality to a metropolitan city. His tenure continued until Chaitra 24, 2053 BS.
