Kathmandu — Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has instructed the relevant authorities at the airport to improve services for tourists. Minister Pandey gave this directive during a meeting with officials from Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday.
Minister Pandey emphasized, “Tribhuvan International Airport is a critical sector. We often hear complaints due to the easy access of political parties, which suggests that the role of security agencies needs to be more effective. Our services must be more passenger-friendly.”
He added that an environment should be created that encourages foreign tourists to return after their first visit. Since Tribhuvan International Airport is the primary gateway for international visitors, he urged airport employees to wear attire that reflects national identity.
Currently, Tribhuvan International Airport has a capacity of 46 Lakh passengers, but it is forced to accommodate around 90 Lakh passengers. Minister Pandey appealed for the adoption of technology to enhance services and maintain the airport’s efficiency.
Additionally, Minister Pandey instructed officials to identify the problems at the airport and develop an action plan within 15 days. He said, “Prioritize who will handle each task and establish clear timelines—Customs, Immigration, Airlines, and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAN). Make an action plan within 15 days and move forward.”
Minister Pandey also directed the relevant authorities to address complaints from passengers smoothly and stated that he would initiate efforts for better inter-ministerial coordination.
